The Road Redemè-loop route from Loc Vignale

winter with short days again as soon as possible I like to take a stroll near his home without being forced to detour in car to reach the goal. And this is fortunate because the hills surrounding La Spezia you develop a 'tangled web of stairs, mule trails, military roads and trails within easy reach and well exposed so much to enjoy almost always a pleasant climate. I remember I started to discover this heritage of steps by reading the guidance of the Danes and then with those of the fence. The publications of the late John Barbed represent a complete and detailed catalog of this major pedestrian network, which is always good to make reference regarding signs and numbers, and to keep memory of this public asset. The following is a description of the excursion of the February 17, 2007 in the company of Stephen.

L'escursione in breve :
Follow this road (as indicated on the card sent "b") while ignoring the staircase continues to rise (4p). The route continues without major differences in height, almost flat, passing next to some houses from the air a bit 'neglected, and enjoy a beautiful view over the city, the Alps and the Apennines. This upstream along the walls of Villa Baffico while the road is now made path into the woods and uphill (actually a secondary forest crops grown on the ancient terraces)
From now on the path (4q-sent called "Road Comiago") continues along the hillside across the valley Biassa just below the mountain of the same name, is exceeded Fosso Sere, F.so Redemè, Canal Square until you reach the fourth sent in loc. Ciosetta (476) m from loc. Sella di Carpena (Osteria Paradiso) to Biassa (342 m). Among F.so Redemè Canal Square and you will reach the largest portion of our tour in loc. Campodormo (500 m). From
Biassa closes the loop along path no 4I (Highway Redemé) until Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia (284 m) from where you back to the bus terminal, along a stretch of paved road (sent there 4p) cut in part by a staircase that goes up to Bersedo. In fact, way back coincides with the low variant of the High Street location Gulf (AVG2). News Biassa

Cycling: given the current conditions of the trail, you are strongly advised not to venture along the paths mentioned unless be experienced hikers and bearing in mind that not all of the Route is marked regularly and in some places is exposed and / or infrascato! At your own risk then!
signposts: trail maintained by the CAI a bit 'worn out, sent 4q not be marked (signs disappeared?)
Total difference in elevation: 205 m

Length: 6.5 km (measured with the curvimetro)

Total time: short half-day tour, 1 h 30 'to reach Biassa, 1 h 15' about the return
presence of drinking water: only Biassa
supporting points and refreshments along the way:
Biassa wanting to find bars, trattoria and pizzeria.

and transport links: line 15 Via La Spezia La Foce-Nail-Vignale-Parodi; Biassa from line 19 to La Spezia (see bus timetables ATC)

Fund features: short stretch of tarmac from the terminal entrance to the stone stairway, however, left almost immediately to borrow a local road paved road up to Villa Baffico. From here, footpath to Biassa, sometimes marked by paving stones and the DM. This stretch may occur infrascato and obstructed by trees felled in particular in its second part when you walk through the ditches and a messy forest of black locust, elderberry and clematis. From the Biassa sent. Redemé along narrow walls of dry cropland and some short sections are exposed, not suitable for those suffering from vertigo. The path you enter the dirt road that serves the gallery of SNAM and that has ravaged the physiognomy . The dirt road continues flat ending to the Shrine of Mad . Guard. From here continue along the paved road with a short section of stone steps to the main terminal.

interesting natural environments and Notes : pleasant terraced cultivated with olive trees, fruit trees and vegetable garden between terminus and Villa Baffico, around and between Biassa Mad. Guard and Terminal. These man-made environments even offer beautiful blooms among other things, wild orchids (Orchis morio, Papilionacea Orchis, Orchis provincialis, Serapias spp.). The woodlands are the most interesting to Carpineti hornbeam between Villa and Baffico Biassa where you can see a lovely example of oak-cork unfortunately ruined by lightning or the weight of snow a few years ago. Intricate and a bit 'difficult the short stretch of woods invaded by a locust tree, clematis and elder before coming to Biassa.

Because I'll recommend: scenic, unusual, nostalgic, it is absolutely necessary to travel continuously to keep it "alive" and prevent it from ending up arrogant localism prevailed, taking it away forever the pleasure and the spirit of all those who wanted to go (" see wrong notes and degradation )

wrong notes and degradation: near the terminus of the Vignale beautiful ilex exposed to East has been devastated recently the construction of a building surrounded by un'antiestetica useless concrete and iron fence. Path no signs infrascato and sometimes interrupted by trees felled between Villa and Biassa Baffico. Road Redemè affected by an old illegal dump in the village of Biassa and in some places the vegetation which has grown so much as to make difficult and a bit 'exposed in transit. The dirt road of SNAM who years ago stopped Redemè Street presents the signage CAI almost to the Shrine of Mad. Guard where someone will delete :-((. The road is interrupted by a bar and for those coming from the Sanctuary is not at all clear where to continue Biassa to achieve. A resident in transit by car at that point reproaches us for having passed them by arguing that the road is private. The paper at hand we understand that you are wrong and remains a bit 'embarrassed in front of our security, but is at pains to say that "this time steps, but it is better not to pass by here because it is still a private road." This is unfortunately one of the many cases of roads, public paths and stairways "forgotten" by the institutions, literally stolen from the community!

Notes "Road Redemé"
Biassa municipal road that connects the sanctuary of the Mad. Guard serving cultivate terraced Biassa particularly fertile and rich in water. Biassei I used it to reach the snow and chestnuts Vignale bringing grain to the mill of the place where now the Red Mill was in ruins. The abandonment of the path started around the 60s of last century has lasted three decades until it was identified as a logical path on which to pass the AVG (Alta Via del Golfo). The volunteers of the CAI Spezia used in a massive recovery and meritorious action that should be repeated today. Subsequently, the main path of the AVG was found at higher altitudes (just under M. Parodi), while the road was designated as variant Redemé low (AVG2), but soon forgotten. The final stretch up the path to the shrine was destroyed by the construction of the dirt road that serves the gallery of SNAM Parodi
